40K Kill Team Mini Tournament
Sunday 2nd March 2014
This day saw Adam, Mark, myself and Marks friend Sam playing a mini kill team tournament.
We all played each other and (due to dice rolling) all sceanarios were played.
3 points for a win and 1 for a draw, with Vp's acting like goal difference.

Sam 3 0 3 0 -14 0
A good set of games and all down to last game, Adam won well on the last game using the scenario and table well.. Would we do it again? Yes
I have found small numbers of well armoured figures don't always work as shown only getting a draw with Grey Knights but plenty of Eldar won.
No one knew what army the opposition were using as we all chose before each game in secret, next time I might use lots of Imperial Guards!!
Random assortment of pics below - enjoy
A journey by myself, my eldest son (Adam), my youngest (Mark) and my nephew (Gary) through the world of Wargaming. Mainly played at home and Manchester Area Wargames www.maws.org.uk

3 Games in our Club Peninsular Campaign.
I am Portuguese and Adam helps - today he was a Spanish Commander.
Southern Table - Spanish v French
Southern table saw the Spanish pushed back by a large French force, however they were able to send reinforcements to the middle table.
Heres a few pics of the battle -
Northern Table - British v French
Northern table saw the British force a hard fought river crossing.
Unusually, the artillry lead over the bridge! But units were quick to follow in support.
Some of the British units got lost and ended up on the middle table due to poor map reading, spent a turn in confusion and marched back.
Heres a few pics from this table -

Tasked with trying to cross the river Adam and myself came up with a plan - assuming we found a ford!

Middle Table - Portuguese/Spanish v French
Tasked with trying to cross the river Adam and myself came up with a plan - assuming we found a ford!
Unfortunately, no fords were found to begin with. The hunt continued whilst the allied artillery attacked the redoubts. the Spanish started a firefight across the stream. Some sneaky French cavalry arrived from the Southern table onto the Spanish flank. They managed to dispatcha Portuguese cavalry unit but eventually musket fire got rid of them! Eventually!
Also on that flank Spanish reinforcements arrived from the Southern table, however due to some unlucky command dice they never moved.
Fords were found and and troops poured across, but it was too late. Earlier the Portuguese had crossed the bridge but been caught in march column and were pushed back.
In hindsight - I should have used 3 units in column to check for fords giving me 3 rolls instead of the 1 I got because my skirmishers covered a large area and we rolled once per unit not distance covered.
The other change - I should have charged across the bridge early on before the enemy cavalry could plug the gap, however i thought the units in the redoubt could fire on me, but club rules have units firing straight ahead only so the units in the redoubt couldn't shot as I crossed.

Monday 11th November
Refight of - Quatre Bras
Figures - 6mm Adler
Rules - Grand Armee
Trying out the quick play version of the rules.
Rob and Bailey took the French and Steve was Orange!!
Game was a to and fro battle with the allies eventually retaking all the ground and Picton on his way to Frasnes!
As far as rules go, a decent set but in my opinion I prefer the harder command choices of the normal Grand Armee.
Waterloo for 2015 is still on schedule.
Initial deployment, End of the Dutch Cavalry
The Duke arrives - with friends!
Fight for the stream.
Picton on the March!

Flames of War Battle
Adam (British) Vs Me (German) - North Africa
It was a hard fought battle, with the Germans attempting to move round their left flank with a large tank force.
In the end the British triumphed, with the German reduced to a couple of stands who decided to retreat.
German flank attack ready to go.

Attack goes in!!!
AND STALLS!!
Meanwhile on the opposite flank the allies scout through the village.
Before the armoured thrust.
A happy commander,
And the remaining Germans before their retreat!Thursday, 16 January 2014

Sunday 18th August 2013
Mark fielded a combined Chaos/Tyranid army.
Adam and me used Ork/Eldar.
Some interesting combinations, but was a good game. The Eldar/Orks managed a close win and Illic performed well in his first battle.

Adams scratch built 'Grot Wing' performed well also on its first flight

2 units Light
5 units Line
The battle field
Game was a close affair with both cavalry units suffering from Rifles (French) and trying a frontal charge (KGL).
The British advanced on the right but fell back after trying to take the farmhouse. The French lights advanced on their right and fell back from the British lights and rifles.
It was a good fight and honours were even at the end of the day.
Finally, my favourite pics - The British line with Rifles deployed ahead and a thin red line defends the hedge row!
